Described on the titlepage of his sale catalogue as a fellow of St Catharine's College, Cambridge, but not traced in Venn.

Brooke's library was auctioned in London, 21.3.1681. The sale catalogue contains 1662 lots, divided between Latin and Greek theology (482 lots), Latin philology (i.e. miscellaneous) (605), divinity (362), English philology (177), and 36 volumes of quarto pamphlets.
