The library of "Mr. Serjeant Goodwin", together with that of [[crossreference::Thomas Earsby d.1718?|Thomas Earsby]], "both deceas'd", was auctioned in London, beginning 9 February 1719; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the ''Daily Courant'' and ''Post Boy'' as being "a collection of many valuable and uncommon books, in [[subject::theology|divinity]], [[subject::history]], [[subject::literature|poetry]], philological learning, [[subjects::law]], [[subject::classics|classicks]]". Beyond the fact that he was a [[occupation::serjeant at law]], further biographical details have not been traced.
