====Biographical Note====
Eldest son of [[family::Sir Charles Bickerstaffe]] of [[location::Seal, Kent]] (d.1704).  Travelled extensively in Europe, during which time he acquired many books.  

====Characteristic Markings====
Used an armorial binding stamp, an ink stamp, and two bookplates. His books were sold in [[location of auction::London]] as an appendix to the [[auction::auction]] of [[crossreference::Robert Hooke]]’s library, [[date of auction::29.4.1703]] (697 lots).
