====Biographical Note====
Born at [[place of birth::Geneva]], son of [[family::Louis Turquet]]. He studied philosophy at the University of Heidelberg and graduated MP from the University of Montpellier in 1596. He was appointed [[occupation::physician]] to [[associates::Henri, duc de Rohan]] by [[associates::Henri IV]] of [[location::France]] in 1599. He became [[occupation::physician]] to [[crossreference::James VI and I|James I]] and developed a very successful practice in [[location::London]]. He was elected [[occupation::fellow]] of the [[organisations::Royal College of Physicians|College of Physicians]] in 1616 and was knighted in 1624.

His books passed to his [[family::niece]] after his death and were ultimately [[auction::auctioned]] in [[location of auction::London]], [[date of auction::2.2.1713]] (joint sale, with additions from his niece’s husband [[crossreference::Sir John Colladon]], and his son [[crossreference::Sir Theodore Colladon|Sir Theodore]], also [[occupation::physicians|physicians]]).  Many of his [[format::manuscripts]] and papers are in the [[present repository::Royal College of Physicians]], the [[present repository::British Library]], and [[present repository::Cambridge University Library]].
