====Biographical Note====
Of [[location::Helmingham Hall, Suffolk]]. The Tollemaches were a major [[location::East Anglian]] landowning family and the family library was well established during the time of the [[family::Sir Lionel Tollemache|1st baronet]], including [[format::manuscript|manuscripts]] of East Anglian monastic provenance.  

====Books====
Some of the books/[[format::manuscript|manuscripts]] of [[crossreference::John Maitland]], 1st [[personal title::Duke of Lauderdale]] (d.[[date of death::1682]]) came into the family’s possession through Maitland’s marriage to [[associates::Elizabeth Dysart]], widow of [[family::Sir Lionel Tollemache d.1669|Sir Lionel Tollemache]] (d.[[date of death::1669]]).  Much of the family library was dispersed at [[organisations::Sotheby’s]] in a series of sales 1961-69.
