====Biographical Note====
Eldest son of Sir [[family::Duncan Campbell]], 4th Baronet of Auchinbreck. He was educated at [[education::Glasgow University]] (1695).
[[occupation::Member of the Scottish Parliament]] 1703-1707 and of the [[occupation::MP|British Parliament]] 1707-1708.
His fortunes were adversely affected by hostility from the Duke of Argyle and then because of his Jacobite sympathies.
