====Biographical Note====
Son of [[family::Christopher Wandesford (1656-1707)]], who was the grandson of [[family::Sir Christopher Wandesford (1592-1640)]].  Wandesford was [[occupation::Member of Irish Parliament]] for [[location::St Canice]] in 1707 before succeeding to the peerage upon the death of his father later the same year. Appointed an [[occupation::Irish privy councillor]] in 1710, then decided to pursue a political career in England. He sat as [[occupation::Member of Parliament]] for [[location::Morpeth]] 1710-1713 and [[location::Ripon]] 1715 until his death. In 1714 he was made a [[occupation::privy councillor]] by [[associates::George I 1660-1727|King George I]], and he was made [[occupation::governor]] of [[location::Kilkenny]] the following year.

Wandesford's library was sold by [[retail sale::retail sale]] in [[location of sale::London]] beginning [[date of sale::11 January 1721]]. Advertisements in the ''Daily Courant''and other newspapers describe the sale as 'consisting of a very valuable Collection of Books in most Languages and Faculties, especially of the [[language::English]] and [[language::French]] [[subject::history|Historians]], [[subject::theology|Divinity]], [[subject::gardening|Husbandry]], Trade, [[subject::geography|Travels]], [[subject::law|Law Common, Civil, and Canon]], and Classicks of the best Editions, and by the most celebrated Printers...'.
