====Biographical Note====
Son of [[family::Christopher Hewetson b.ca.1660|Christopher Hewetson]] of [[location::Thomastown, Kilkenny]], a member of a long-established gentry family there which had prospered during the 17th century. He was involved in local administration, as a [[occupation::JP]] and a [[occupation::lieutenant]] in the [[organisations::Kilkenny Militia]]. 

====Books====
Hewetson (or possibly his father?) used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 14626). The extent and disposition of his library is not known; his eldest son was [[family::Amyas Hewetson]] (1708-71) and one of his younger sons [[family::Christopher Hewetson 1737/8-98|Christopher]] achieved fame as a [[occupation::sculptor]].
