====Biographical Note====
Fourth son of Sir [[family::Rowland Belasyse]], of Smithills Hall, [[location::Bolton]]. A Roman Catholic in religion, he travelled in Italy around the turn of the eighteenth century and married [[family::Frances Roper]], daughter of Christopher Roper, 5th Baron Teynham. He had a home in [[location::Winchester]] but died in [[location::Dunkirk]].

====Books====
Belasyse used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 2064); the extent and disposition of his library are not known but the bulk of his estate would have passed to his eldest son [[family::Henry Belasyse|Henry]] (d.1782).
