====Biographical Note====
Born in [[place of birth::London]], son of [[family::Gabriel Odingsells b.1653|Gabriel Odingsells]]. Matriculated at [[education::Pembroke, College, Oxford]] 1707, but did not graduate; he returned to [[location::London]] where he sought to develop a career as a [[occupation::playwright]]. His first play, ''The Bath unmask'd'' was staged in 1725, and several followed up to 1730, but he was not judged a literary success either by his contemporaries, or posterity. He committed suicide in 1734.

Odingsells used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 22184). His library was sold by retail sale in London, 21.5.1734.
