====Biographical Note====
Born in [[place of birth::Cumberland]].  BA [[education::Queen's College, Oxford]] 1602, MA 1605, [[occupation::proctor]] 1613, BD 1614.  [[occupation::rector|Rector]] of [[location::West Camel, Somerset]] 1615, and of [[location::Kingsdon]] 1626; ejected ca.1646, when he was accused of reading the [[book title::Book of Common Prayer]] and of giving a horse and money to the royal army, but restored in 1660.

====Books====
An account of his sequestration states that [[monetary value::£10]] worth of books were taken from him at that time, but subsequently returned.  His will, which reveals a modest estate capable of including monetary bequests totalling around [[monetary value::£200]], has no mention of books; all the residue of his personal estate was left to his kinsman [[family::Walter Charlton]], [[occupation::physician]] in [[location::London]].
