Biographical Note

George Gordon of Gordonbank, Berwickshire, was a writer in Edinburgh and was served heir to his brother James in that estate on 26 January 1738. He was an Episcopalian and had a son baptised at Old St. Paul’s, Edinburgh, in 1752. His son George was served his heir on 3 August 1758.

Books

He used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 12260) signed by the early-eighteenth century Edinburgh engraver Archibald Burden. The extent and disposition of his library are not known.
